Liebe Eltern, dear parents and guardians,

Finally, our extra early readers that were ordered in the fall, have arrived! We needed to purchase more, as we have so many grade 1 and 2 students and each teacher should have the early readers, which support learning to read, easily accessible in their classrooms (instead of sharing books, as they have done all of last year and so far this year). This is a $4,500 expense of school dollars.

If you have not returned your Intentions for Next Year, please return them asap. At this point, we have 21 confirmed German kindergarten students and 10 community kindergarten registrations confirmed. Please, if you have registered for kindergarten but have not confirmed that you are coming, please call Ms. Corey ASAP or confirm it online. The earlier we have confirmed numbers, the better we can plan for the 24-25 school year. My school budget for next year will be given to me early in April, at which time the staffing for the next school year starts in earnest with postings happening in May and June.

Newly Booked Field Trips

Grade 5's are going to Fish Creek Park on March 20

Grade 2/3's are going to the Aggie Days on April 11

Grade 4 Going to the LANDFILL on May 2

Grade 1 will have butterfly eggs and chicken eggs (being incubated) visit their classrooms until they hatch.

Supporting Literacy at Home

Please check out some amazing parent resources here to support your child to learn to read. Practicing reading each day at home, reinforcing lessons, all help your child thrive and build the joy of reading.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur on March 21 in the evening and March 22 in the morning.

You will be able to book your conferences starting March 11 at 6pm. Please make sure to book your appointment. Ongoing communication between the teacher and the parents is essential for the success of the students. If you face technical challenges, please come in and speak with Ms. Corey, who can help you make an appointment. Each parent will be able to have 15 minutes with the teacher – unless your child has an IPP, which then gives you double the time. The office is calling all parents who will be given 30 minute blocks prior to the bookings opening up to the rest of the families.

Warm regards,

Meike Thomsen, Principal
