Liebe Eltern, dear parents and guardians,
This week, we had a taste of spring – for 2 days! The trees are budding, the birds are singing and building nests, some already having young ones. There is the smell that comes with the Earth awakening and a new cycle of life beginning. I love this time of the year! Hepatica, Snowdrops, daffodils, tulips, lilac budding, forsythia budding … color re-entering our grey/brown world in Alberta again. Yeah!
Spring Concert
Ms. Hou is practicing for the upcoming Spring Concert on May 14. I hope you have taken the morning or afternoon off - depending on your concert time. I am sure it will be a concert to be remembered! Listening to the students playing while passing by the music room at all times of the day is such a joy.
Hockey Club
What Mr. Benty writes about his hockey club:
Floor hockey club has become one of the most meaningful parts of our school community. It’s a program that brings so much energy and excitement to the day, and for many students, it’s a highlight they look forward to.
For me personally, floor hockey intramurals were my favourite part of school growing up, so it’s incredibly special to now help create that same experience for our students. The club is about much more than just the game. It promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong sense of community. Students from different grades and programs come together to play, referee, and cheer each other on, creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
One of the most rewarding aspects is seeing how much students grow over the course of the year. Their skills, confidence, and teamwork continue to develop, and it’s amazing to watch them support one another and celebrate each other’s successes. The level of talent and enthusiasm is truly impressive.
If parents were able to attend, they would no doubt feel incredibly proud. Not only of their children’s abilities, but also of the positive sportsmanship and teamwork on display.
This program would not be possible without the support of my colleagues, Ms. Buckner and Frau Schafer, whose time and dedication help make it such a success.
