Dear Parents and Guardians,
It’s been a whirlwind of a first week! The students have grown so much, and I’ve been catching up with staff and students! It was lovely to feel the energy and see all the smiles.
Next Friday, May 9, we will celebrate our many, many volunteers. Our volunteers consist of parents, grandparents (Oma's!) and friends of the community. Bowcroft is a vibrant school community and the many field trips and special events at school would not be possible without our volunteers! Open Minds is an example of volunteers dedicating not just one full day, but, in some cases, many days. Thank you!
The butterfly caterpillars have arrived, and the students are learning, hands-on, how they metamorphose into chrysalis (pupa). In the end, students set them free. Duck eggs are still coming and the excitement when chicks hatch always creates a buzz in the div 1 wing.
Our grade 6 students have been practicing logging into the Alberta Education Provincial Exam site and will be practicing taking exams in the next couple of weeks. This practice will help the students be more confident and relaxed during the actual exam days. A good night’s sleep and a protein-rich breakfast on exam days will help them. Please see below the dates of the provincial achievement tests.
It’s the time of year that we are starting our planning for September. Please let the school know if you are NOT returning to Bowcroft. Please call the office or email Ms. Leah lpakkrig@cbe.ab.ca or the school bowcroft@cbe.ab.ca . So far, we have only heard back from approximately 25% of families.
If you have friends and neighbors will young children who look like they are kindergarten age, please ask them to register now. At this point, we have 24 German bilingual kindergarten registrations, but only 8 for the community program.
From the Office
Thank you to the parents who have already paid their field trip fees already. We still have 70+ families to go. Please, do pay your field trip fees at your earliest convenience. Thank you!
Warm regards,
Meike Thomsen, Principal
