Hello Bowcroft Families,
I am excited to be joining your community this fall! I am originally from Saskatchewan, growing up and completing my first degree in Kinesiology in Saskatoon. My partner Sean and I moved to Calgary in 2020, and we have loved getting to know the city. We enjoy hiking in the mountains, biking on the paths along the river, and of course the Chinooks! I have been involved with sports for most of my life and enjoy bringing my love for sports and physical activity into the classroom. In my spare time, I play softball and spend time with my cat Bella.
Prior to teaching, I worked as an exercise therapist for children and adults with medical conditions. I decided to return to school in 2022 to complete my Education degree, and it has been an incredibly fulfilling journey so far. I value building strong relationships with students, families and staff, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to get to know you in September.
Have a great summer!

Ms. Sabrina Nacinovic
Dear Grade 2 Students and Families,
Hello! My name is Sabrina Nacinovic and I am so excited to be one of the grade 2 teachers at Bowcroft for the 2024/2025 school year. I was born in Calgary and grew up living on an acreage just outside the city. I can speak Croatian and hope to learn more languages…maybe some German : )
I am fascinated by the world, its diverse populations, and its rich biodiversity. My love for nature and plants is evident in the time I dedicate each summer to nurturing my vegetable and flower gardens. I have a passion for traveling and learning about different cultures, often immersing myself fully in new environments to gain a comprehensive understanding. Besides traveling, I take pleasure in cooking and baking, playing and coaching soccer, and spending time with my two cats and dog.
Enjoy your summer and I look forward to meeting you all the first day of school!
Sabrina Nacinovic
Ms. Kyra Tessier
Hi everybody! My name is Kyra Tessier, and I am very excited to join your school community at Bowcroft. I will be teaching grade 4. I was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, and spent 6 years on the beautiful East Coast in Nova Scotia completing both a degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. I have officially been in Calgary just over a year and am very grateful to call it home! In my down time, I love to get outside as much as I can to explore the mountains, go camping, or taking the dog for a walk. I’m beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you and your learners this upcoming school year. See you in September!
Kyra Tessier
Warm regards,
Meike Thomsen, Principal
