Dear Parents & Guardians

Each year, our Grade 4-6 students are doing a multitude of surveys. One is from Alberta Education, called the Alberta Education Assurance Measures Framework survey. This year, our results at Bowcroft are as good as the province’s and, in some instances, even slightly better. We often get cogged down in all the things that need fixing and improving. Today, I invite you to celebrate with me!  Please take a moment to read the charts below. I will be going into greater detail of these results at the next BPAC meeting on Tuesday, June 10, at 6:00pm.

Thank you to all the parents who signed up for Sports Day on the last day of the school year. Eighteen stations are planned and all the stations will be run by parent volunteers, freeing teachers up to wander the school and outside spaces and to step in when the need arises as well as to cheer on the students as they compete/have fun. The class with the most points will receive the ‘trophy’. One for division 1 and one for division 2. We are still waiting to hear back from our Olympian Erika Voss and whether or not she’ll be able to join us on our fun day again (like last year).

Erika Voss and one of our grade 2 classes were part of the Classroom Champion fundraiser luncheon (over ZOOM). They did such a good job promoting the German bilingual program by introducing the program to a room filled with about 300 of young downtown Calgary professionals! Calgarians are finally beginning to realize that the German bilingual program exists. A huge Thank You to Rhiannon and Steven Mesler who are making Classroom Champions accessible for Bowcroft School, free of charge. Danke!

Please make sure to view your child/ren’s report card prior to July 25 as it is the last day for parents/legal guardians to view the 2024-25 report card.

Warm regards,

Meike Thomsen, Principal
