Dear Bowcroft Families,

As we welcome the longer daylight hours following the recent time change, we’re looking forward to a month full of engaging activities for our students! Here’s what’s coming up this week:

Spirit Days

🌟 Pi Day – March 14
Pi Day is a fun way to celebrate all things math! Students will decorate Pi signs and add their favorite numbers, creating a math-inspired display for our bulletin board. Grade 6 Leadership students will be assisting younger grades in this activity.

📖 Metis Storytelling – March 14
We are honored to welcome Chantal Chagnon, a Métis storyteller and singer, who will be sharing stories about seasonal changes, the upcoming equinox, and solstices with our students. This is a wonderful opportunity for cultural learning and connection.

Recurring Messages/ Dates of Significance

Ramadan

Ramadan, a significant time of prayer and reflection in the Muslim community, takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. During this time, some families may choose to have their children fast during the school day.

If your child will be fasting and would prefer an alternative space during lunchtime instead of the classroom, please let us know. We will provide a quiet, supportive space to ensure they have a comfortable and positive experience.

If you would like to arrange this for your child, please email me at jlmctighe@cbe.ab.ca and we will coordinate accordingly

Volunteers

New this year, the cost of Police Information Checks is being covered for those requiring it. Please visit this link to learn more about how to volunteer with Bowcroft this year!

Accessing Assessments

We understand that some families have encountered difficulties accessing their child’s grades on MyCBE/PowerScHool this year. Please note that the PowerSchool App does not display assessment scores. To view your child’s progress, you will need to log in through a web browser in MyCBE. For step-by-step instructions on accessing all posted assessments from your child’s teacher, please refer to the attached guide or instructional video.
