Video Surveillance
Video Surveillance Technology (VST) work starts in early April. Construction materials will be housed in room 24 (and locked). Work will be done after 4pm each day.
Parking along the street
New signs will be going up, allowing for 10 minutes of parking for parents. You will be able to park along the fence of the garden, the bus will be asked to pull up right next to the school and the whole length of the playground/tarmac area will also be available for 10 minutes of parking.
The new signs will be paid for by the transportation department of the CBE.
Student Survey
Grade 5/6 students will be completing the annual CBE Student Survey in the next 2 weeks.
Off-Site Field Trips
Grade 5/6 students will also be enjoying numerous field trips in the near future: one to the police interpretive center. They will take the public bus to get there, which is also a learning experience!
Aggie days will be enjoyed by all grade 2-6 classes on April 16. Hopefully, winter will have left by then.
German Exams
Our German students in division 2 are excited to showcase their German.
- A1 exams will be on April 20 and 21.
- A2 exams will be on May 4 and 7. On May 7
I will be sitting in for the oral part of the examination, which consist of asking/answering questions and an oral presentation. Students have been practicing hard! I can’t wait to see their accomplishments!
Spring Concert
A reminder that our FIRST ever spring concert is on May 14 at 10:30am for the German classes (incl. the English kindergarten) and at 2:30 for the community classes. We hope that the gym will be packed with parents, grandparents and friends of Bowcroft. Ms. Hou is excited to showcase all the musical learning her students have done!

News and Updates from BPAC!
Book Fair Wrap-up
Huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers that helped to make our Book Fair, the best one yet!
We raised over $3000 in Scholastic dollars! $1500 in books were taken straight off the Book Fair shelves. Those books are already in classrooms this week, and will be on shelves in the library by the end of the month. These were the most popular books that students were interested in, when classrooms visited the Fair, earlier this month.
Casino 2026
We are less than 60 days away from our casino dates and we still need your help! Please consider signing up for a shift.
- There are 18 volunteer shifts open on Thursday and 7 volunteer shifts on Friday. No police clearance needed.
- Thursday, May 21 & Friday, May 22 at the Elbow River Casino
- Each volunteer receives a free meal during their shift break.
- No experience needed - the job is easy and the shifts are fun! The casino advisors are right beside us the entire time, making sure we know exactly what to do.
Casinos are by far our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are only granted a casino by AGLC, once every 18-24 months. We receive between $70,000 - $80,000 from this two day event. To put that into perspective, a regular ‘good’ fundraiser raises less than $1,000. This money directly pays for all residencies at the school like ballroom dancing, Alien Inline skating and spring baby chicks and butterflies; Elder Saa’kokoto, Chantal and all Indigenous visitors as well. It also pays for some new technology at the school; multiple new smartboards were paid for by BPAC in the last three years. BPAC also pays for gym equipment like balls, skipping ropes and hockey sticks. All subscriptions like Mathletics and Reading Eggs are paid for entirely with BPAC funds. Casino funds also pay for a large chunk of all school field trips and field trip bussing. Without the casino funds these things would simply not happen at Bowcroft.
A massive THANK YOU to all the volunteers that have already signed up! We cannot do this without you!

Popcorn Thursdays!
The favourite day at Bowcorft will continue into the spring and through the remainder of the school year. Students are encouraged to bring $2 to the Bistro at lunchtime. BPAC receives a small percentage of each sale, but this is more about the fun and learning experience for the students. We ask, if possible, for toonies and loonies only.
Upcoming Weekend
This Friday is Good Friday and the school will be closed.
Easter Monday, the school is open. Enjoy the long weekend with family and friends!
