Liebe Eltern, dear parents and guardians,
On May 5, 2026, six teams from the German bilingual program, one Grade 4 team and five Grade 6 teams, participated in the 2026 Calgary & Central Alberta Fair at Heritage Park. Pepper and Britta won “The 2026 Trimac Transportation Thematic Award for their “Rails to the Rockies” presentation. Congratulations! All other teams are to be commended for being chosen to go. Thank you to the parents to support the teams in bringing them to Heritage Park and for spending this exciting day with them! Way to go, everyone! I liked when one student reflected: “If I had to do it again, I now know what it takes to win!”
It’s been a big week for our grade 6 German bilingual program students who participated in the A2 exams (this is a language proficiency exam, that is recognized all over Europe). This exam has 4 parts: writing, listening comprehension, reading comprehension and oral proficiency (speaking). I enjoyed participating in the speaking part of the examination. Students had a presentation prepared on a topic of their choice. This lasted 4 minutes, followed by 4 minutes of questioning about the presentation and another 4 minutes of general questions (about family, hobbies, favorite food/travel/music etc). to the exam panel. In order to pass the overall exam, you have to pass each individual section.
Last week, Frau Faszer’s grade 4/5 students participated in the A1 level exam. All 25 students participated in the exam and 19 passed all four sections of the exam. An excellent outcome! 21 students passed reading comprehension, 22 passed the listening comprehension, 21 students passed the writing and 23 the speaking section.
June 18 will see the grade 1 classes going to Butterfield Acres. This is the rebooking for the cancellation from this month.
BPAC has organized a PARENT ONLINE SAFETY LEARNING SESSION with YouthLink. All parents are encouraged to attend as it will teach you how to keep your child/ren safe online. You think you do and know how to, but we hope you will attend, as you are bound to learn.
