Liebe Eltern, dear parents and guardians,

Wow, what an incredible field trip to the Royal Tyrell Museum all 102 grade 2/3 students had today. A huge THANK YOU to all parents who came along and for all the teachers to prepare this big trip so well. Everyone knew where they needed to be at all times and the whole trip unfolded perfectly and everyone had a ton of fun (and learning). The hike through the badlands was informative. Raptures in action was a fun lesson about the different parts of the dinosaur and how it’s legs moved. They got to build ‘legs’ and then enjoyed a little competition of using the leg an in a creative way. Lots of cheering on happened! It was interesting to observe the groups and how they solved/collaborated together to build the legs. We would like to say Thank You to EDUCATION MATTERS for supporting this field trip with a $5,000 grant, which paid for the 3 busses. The activities fees of $1,600 was covered by BPAC. BPAC supports field trips each year with a per student diem. Thank you!

Hopefully, you have made some fun family plans for this 4 day weekend that is coming up! While staff are working on Friday, we will all enjoy the long weekend. Myself, I’ll spend time in my garden, making sure everything is ready for our (short) but powerful growing season.

The garden club received a compost donation from Matters of the Garden. Thank you, Ade Latilo, for your generosity! The tomatoes that have been growing in the hallway under growing lights are getting pretty big, so moving them outside is now possible.

School council has approved funding for 30 new basket balls for the gym and $250 for balls in general for outside. Thank you to family A Z for donating 8 basket balls and the family of M A for donating 1 basket ball.

Due to our projected enrollment growth, the school is receiving 2 new Smartboards and 35 new chairs and tables. The funding will be provided from the PMEX funds (Program Move and Expansion). Bowcroft will receive $25,887.03.

A reminder that there is no school on Friday and Monday. Enjoy the long weekend. Students are back in school on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Warm regards,

Meike Thomsen, Principal
