Liebe Eltern, dear parents and guardians,
Ms. Tetz, grade 6 teacher, will come and join us on Monday, May 6, at our BPAC meeting at 6:30pm. She would like to talk about grade 6 farewell and the fundraising she’d like to do for that celebration. If you are a grade 6 parent, please come and join this discussion/planning!
We would also like to bring up fees. For the past many, many years, families have not been charged for residencies/field trips/learning enriching opportunities because BPAC and their fundraising (the casino being the biggest one) always raised sufficient funds to cover all those expenses. With the school growing from 320 to 420 next year, the same money does not go as far. The ballroom dance residency, for example, would have cost $55 for each child. The grade 2/3 trip to the Royal Tyrell Museum in May would have cost $58.56 for each child (if there hadn’t been a successful grant application). Families on waivers will not be expected to pay, of course. Families who are experiencing hardship due to life events will be asked to come and speak with Ms. Gartshore or myself. We do want to share this with you now in order for you to be aware going into the 24-25 school year.
Grade 4s went to the Landfill to learn about recycling in Calgary. Kindergarten went to Fish Creek Park. This trip had been cancelled due to poor weather before, hence we are grateful that they were able to reschedule them.
Frau Hauck and Cosmetology Club Update
We had such great success with our Cosmetology Club, which have been running since February 2024. We are so excited to continue with our Cosmetology Club, for grade 5/6 students on Wednesdays, 12:15 until 12:55 PM, until the end of June 2024.
In addition, we are opening it up to grades 2-3 (maximum 12 students) as well. Students need to ask Frau Hauck for a form, which will need to be signed by parents.
Start: Wednesday, May 8 until the end of June 2024.
