Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is a very short week, but we have a lot of information for you!
Breakfast Program Funding
As many of you know, Bowcroft school has a breakfast program as well as Brown Bagging lunches. What does this mean in terms of funding? Over the year, Bowcroft receives a funding allocation of $49,972.00 to support the breakfast program. This breaks down to $5,552.00 per month or $1,388.00 weekly based on an average number of students fed daily of 260 students.
St. Nikolaus Celebration
The German celebration of St. Nikolaus, on December 6, is celebrated by ALL students at Bowcroft. In order for each child to find a treat on December 6, we ask for mandarin donations from parents. If you can donate a bag or 2 of mandarins, please bring them to the office, so teachers can distribute them on December 5. Danke!
Floor Hockey
Floor Hockey with Mr. Benty is starting up again on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. The kids have been looking forward to the start of this lunch club! Thank you to Mr. Benty for volunteering his time twice a week during his lunch break.
Parent-Teacher Conferences and Scholastic Book Fair
Parent-Teacher Conferences are around the corner, and so is our Scholastic Book Fair!
- It runs November 26, 27, 28
- Hours of Operation:
- Wednesday, November 26: 9am - 4pm
- Thursday, November 27: 9am - 8pm
- Friday, November 28: 8am - 1pm
Each classroom will visit the Book Fair with their teacher on November 26 or 27, during school hours. You will receive further information from your child’s teacher. The students are encouraged to bring a little spending money and shop the shelves of the Book Fair. You may also visit the Book Fair with them directly after school on Wednesday or anytime during Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday.
Book Fair Volunteers
We need volunteers!
In order for our Book Fair to stay open, we need your help. Please consider sign-up for a shift, if you are able. Police clearance is needed.
It's fun, super easy and your shift goes by really quickly!
Volunteers will help the kids and families shop the Book Fair, keep things tidy, and take payment - easy peasy! All items have GST included in the price, so no math skills needed.
This is the biggest fundraiser we do for our library each year - half of all sales go back to updating the books in our library. Ms Moya shops the shelves of the book fair and gets to pick out the most popular titles, and all the fun books the kids are most interested in during the three days the Book Fair is open.

The treats should ideally be dropped off before 4pm Tuesday, or around 7:45/8am Wednesday. Other arrangements can be made with Ms. Corey in the office.
