Dear Parents and Guardians

On Thursday, October 17, 2025, we welcomed our parents, grandparents, guardians and students to the FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT that ran from 6:00 to 7:00pm.  I hope you used this time to explore, experience and learn about your child’s discoveries in reading, writing and speaking. I hope you took a good look at the hallway bulletin board that showcased the writing level expectations from grade 1 to grade 6. Student writing samples showed what a level 1 to 4 looks like in each grade (at the end of the grade). Please take a look if you did not see it yesterday. It is really interesting to see the changing expectations between the grade levels. Thank you for taking an active interest in your child’s learning!

Frau Hauck is starting her cosmetology club for div 2 students next Monday. It will run until Winter Break, so almost eight weeks. There is a maximum of 10 students who can join the club. Teachers have spoken to their classes and students were tasked to find Frau Hauck to pick up a permission letter that needs to be signed by you. This club was so popular last year, that Frau Hauck ran it twice! So generous of her!

For Spirit Week, October 28 - November 1, the Leadership Club has come up with some great ideas that build community throughout the grades and school.

October 28 - Twin, Triple and Quad Day - dress like someone in your class/buddy/family member

October 29 - Backward Day-dress backward - pants backward, shirts and so on

October 30 - Wacky Hat Day - dress in your craziest hat

October 31 - Halloween – wear your costume in the afternoon. No face coverings, no blood, no guns, no violence. Teachers will send more detailed information home in their weekly message.

Running and Reading Club is also starting soon. Students who are signed up for the club will bring all their belongings to room 24 when the bell rings at the end of the school day. Attendance will be taken in room 24. Then, some students will move into the gym. They will have half of the gym as Kids Come First does need the other half of the gym. Reading and Running is also encouraged to do as much outside as possible, until it gets too cold. Forms have gone home.

Next Friday, October 25 , is a professional development day for teachers. No school for students.

Warm regards,

Meike Thomsen, Principal
