Dear Parents and Guardians,
Lets start with some good news:
Thank you to all the parents who came to Meet the Teacher last Thursday, September 25. Thank you to our Learning Leader Ms. Dietrich, who had prepared the presentation, which was then shared with all the staff, so each teacher could edit it to suit their classroom, while ensuring that the topics covered stayed the same in each classroom, allowing consistency in messaging. This also saved hours of time for each teacher, who didn’t need to develop everything on their own. Thank you, Ms. Dietrich!
Thank you to all the parents who took time to provide us with feedback. Sixty-one (61) parents filled out the quick feedback slip. Fifty-one (51) parents loved the evening, with no concerns noted. Some of the things they shared were:
“It was nice to see the classroom & talk to other parents.”
“Our kids were free to roam and showing us what they wanted.”
“Good mix of casual and organized.”
“Great to put a face to a name (teachers). Clearly set expectations and what learning will look like (overview). Great job.”
“We met other kids & parents, as well as got a feeling of the classroom culture.”
“Loved it. It was great to meet the teacher and see where our boy […] is learning. Very clean and organized.”
“It was welcoming and friendly.”
“It was relaxed, a chance to see the classroom and meet other parents.”
“My son doesn’t give much detail about his day, so this was great to connect with his teacher and what he does everyday. Thank you.”
“GREAT!. My son loves school. His teacher is so inviting. Great communicator.”
“We talked a lot with the teacher of my kid and it was great. Thanks.”
“Everything was nicely presented and we got lots of information.”
“It helped me understand how to help my children at home.”
The other ten (10) parents had positive comments like the ones above as well as some suggestions:
- Three parents would have liked more time with the teacher to discuss their own child 1on1.
- Five parents felt that the timeline of the evening and the change of the structure of the evening was not communicated clearly enough.
- One parent wished the evening would have been longer.
- If you have more than one child, the presentations are repetitive.
More good news:
Another huge Thank You goes to Ms. Bonham and her realtor friend who, yet again, organized the annual Bowcroft clothing drive. Last Friday, every class went ‘shopping’ for free clothing. The volunteers had organized all the donations by gender and size. The kids’ excitement when it was their turn to ‘shop for free’ was contagious! At the end of the day, parents were able to also shop for free. Anything that was left over, went to WINS. So much happy energy! Danke, Ms. Bonham and friends!
Classroom Champions Update
As your child may have shared already: Hallie Clarke is our Olympian this year! She comes from Brighton, Ontario and lives in Codrington, Ontario. On her welcome page it states:
Meet Hallie Clarke, the 20-year-old sensation making waves in the world of skeleton! Hallie's first experience with skeleton got off to a rocky start when she crashed at fourteen years old. However, her courage allowed her to regroup and try again. She's eternally grateful for this as she is now the youngest-ever World Champion in women's skeleton! Having just completed her second year on the World Cup circuit, Hallie has her sights set on the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. She's ready to inspire and share her expertise as an Athlete Mentor and is eager to get to know all her mentees!
