Dear Parents and Guardians,
A very busy week is wrapping up: vision testing all week and picture day on Monday as well as the ongoing testing of Alberta Education mandated assessments on numeracy and literacy in grade 1-3 saw many substitute teachers in the building.
If you have not done so yet, please, register for the parent-teacher interviews that are happening next week on Thursday night and Friday morning. Ms. Tetz and Ms. Hickling also have interviews all of Wednesday due to having two groups of students. They are doing their interviews together. If your child is on an IPP, you will have received a phone call to set up your time. If you require assistance in signing up for MyCBE account and registering for the conferences, please stop by to see Ms. Leah or Ms. Corey for help.
Math Multiplication and Division Facts!
All grade 3 students need to know their facts up to 10x10 by the end of grade 3. If your student is in grade 4-6 and does not know them (yet), it’s time to get studying at home! Regardless of grade, if you wish, please send your child to my office to pick up a practice sheet. We’ll start with the 2s and work our way up. By the time the are up to 12x12, they will get a certificate! I have had the first three students dropping by to show off what they have practiced over the summer! So encouraging to see!
Classroom Champions
We have been gifted a FREE t-shirt for every student and all teachers. They were ordered today, and they are supposed to arrive prior to the October 24 connection with our classroom champion. So, when the students ‘meet’ the Olympian, lets all wear our blue Classroom Champion t-shirts that say Dream it. Set it. Achieve it. (your personal goal, that is!)
October 5 & 6 at the Elbow River Casino; only 3 spots left (and these are spots in case someone falls suddenly ill – so you may not be called in the end). Yahoo! Thank you to all the parents who have signed up for our biggest fundraiser! Learn more!
Warm regards,
Meike Thomsen, Principal
