Dear Parents and Guardians
Thank you for coming to parent-teacher conferences and getting to know your classroom teacher(s). Ongoing communication between parents, teachers and the school in general ensures best student outcomes. Thank you for being vested in your child’s education.
Staff Parking Lot: On Thursday morning, 2 staff pulled into the parking lot to find parent vehicles parked in their parking stalls. Please, do not park in the numbered stalls when dropping off your child/ren. Staff need to be able to park when they arrive at work.
Adopt a School at Indigo at Signall Hill, so far, has raised $4,200 for Bowcroft! Yahoo! These monies will be spent purchasing wonderful new books for the library. Considering that we have new Science and Math curriculum, this money will go a long way to purchase library books on these new topics. The CBE has given schools ‘new curriculum resource funding’ as well, which has allowed the teachers to make lists of books they would like to have in their classrooms. Grade K-3 have already received their books (some are back ordered) while we are waiting for a huge Grade 6 book order on the new sciences topics to come in that Ms. Tetz has put together. Lots of new books at Bowcroft!
Volunteer Clearance: Many classes are going on weekly or biweekly walking field trips in/around the neighborhood of Bowness. For these, they need volunteers to meet supervision ratio. Your child’s grade 1-6 class is also going to go on a week-long field trip at some point this year. For that, the teacher needs volunteers each day. If you have not already done so, please stop by the office to start the volunteer clearance process. At this busy time of the year, it may take up to 6 weeks to be processed, so cannot be left until the week prior to the trip. Many parents have already done this – thank you!
Student fees like lunchroom supervision fees and bussing are posted to your MyCBE account on a monthly basis. ISM fees are posted once a year. We strongly encourage you to check your MyCBE account monthly and to pay monthly. If you are receiving AISH, Fair Entry or Alberta Works please speak with Ms. Corey, who is happy to help you get that paperwork processed to get the fees waived. It is important to do this annually.
Monday is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and, therefore, no school.
Warm regards,
Meike Thomsen, Principal
