WAG Dec. 11-15 | Saint Nikolaus, Clubs, Winter Celebration, Tracking Academic Progress,
Liebe Eltern, dear parents and guardians,
Saint Nikolaus – a German Tradition
On December 5, every child cleans and polishes their winter boot and puts it into their bedroom window. During the night, if they have been good, Saint Nikolaus visits and leaves them a gift. This could be some chocolate, an orange and a small gift. If they have been ‘bad’, they find a piece of coal in their boot. On Wednesday of this week, all students at Bowcroft received a pencil and orange for Saint Nikolaus. I hope they enjoyed the little gift and the story that came with it.
More Clubs are Starting!
Division 2 (grade 4-6) keep having more and more noon activities to choose from on Tuesdays: Our German kindergarten volunteer Mr. Thomas Rath is an avid biker and bike repair man. Seeing as the school has the yellow bikes that do need occasional repairs, he thought that offering a Bowcroft Bike Repair club to grade 5 students would be useful. Grade 1 teacher Ms. J. Rusnak, who loves biking, too, is sponsoring this club. Grade 6 teacher Ms. Tetz is also starting a coding club for interested grade 4-6 students. Students would have brought home letters for both clubs this week.
Dress to Impress: Ballroom Dance Winter Celebration
If possible, please have the students wear black, red, green or sparkly. The classes are making excellent progress. Most students are able to step in time to the music now. Everyone has learned the basic steps and some of the older students are starting to learn underarm turns. It’s just so much fun to watch them improve their skills each class.

Earlier School Start Time in 24-25?
Seeing as we have many siblings who are attending Thomas B. Riley School, we are working on aligning our hours better. Why? Many older siblings have to drop off the younger siblings. This is very difficult, as TB Riley starts much earlier than Bowcroft school. What does this mean? Hopefully, we will start a earlier in the 24-25 school year. Stay tuned! It will probably be spring time before we know anything for certain.
