WAG Dec. 4-8 | Ballroom Dance, Attendance, Kindergarten, Open House

Liebe Eltern, dear parents and guardians,

On Monday, our much anticipated Ballroom Dance Residency started with Mr. Martin. Teachers and students enjoyed their first two or three lessons! Each lesson is 40 minutes long. I try to peak into each of the classes and, I have to admit, the grade 6 class really impressed me with their pace of learning. Watching kindergarten students and grade 1 students practice Merengue (Pirate dance! Ask your child about this name and the ‘magic 8’).  Grade 2/3s are having fund learning the T A N G O. This week has been all about learning the basic steps. This dance residency will result in our winter celebration.

We would like to thank the four parents who have come forward to donate mandarins/oranges and pencils. Thank you for your generosity!

Attendance: We are happy to report that 33 students (9.1%) have been healthy and well and have had perfect attendance. Way to go!

We sometimes wonder if we make a difference. Let me share this with you: Lori Penny attended Bowcroft school from 1986 to 1992. She dropped by this week with donuts for the staff to “Say Thank You”. She shared how Bowcroft had made a difference in her life and that she is so very grateful for the school and each staff member and what they are doing.

You may have heard already: BPAC decided to cancel the December school council meeting. Our next meeting will be on January 8, 2024 at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons.

Kindergarten registrations open on January 15, 2024. If you have young children or have neighbors and friends who have kindergarten aged children to encourage them to come to our German Open House on January 25, 2024 at 6:00pm. You will notice advertisement billboards go up early in January for two weeks prior to the Open House. The German bilingual program is the only one in the CBE. This means, that students will get bussed from anywhere in the city. Do tell a friend! The Open House will have the German Men’s choir as well as our division 2 choir perform.

No school next Friday.

Warm Regards,

Meike Thomsen, Principal
