WAG Sept. 11-14 | School Council, Volunteers Needed
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Fridays, students and staff are encouraged to wear our Bowcroft t-shirts, hoddies etc and/or blue and gold colors, which are our school colors.
Ms. Halvorson, one of our new Grade 1 teachers, is teaching her class sign language to support non-verbal communication. Her class is practicing to sign “Oh Canada” at one of our assemblies later in the year. So very exciting!
On Monday at 9:20 am, our Grade 3-6 students are having a presentation on Internet safety. Last week, I asked for parents to RSVP to let us know if they are coming. So far, only two parents have informed me of their attendance. Please come and attend, you will learn really important things.
Your school council is meeting for the first time this year next Monday, September 11, at school, at 6:30 pm. Our Grade 2/3 teacher team will introduce themselves during that meeting (except Mrs. Dietrich, as she has family commitments). So, if you would like to meet the amazing teachers of our Grade 2/3 team, do join us. They will introduce themselves at the very beginning of the meeting to allow them to go home after and enjoy the rest of the evening with their families.
From BPAC: We need volunteers, please sign up for BOTH events

Please know that your child is welcome to have breakfast at school if you struggle with food insecurity. They can enter the school through the front door and go to the bistro. Ms. Lusmaru has tables set up. Students then can choose from having cheese, yoghurt, granola bars or some fruit.
Ms. Bonham is organizing the clothing drive again this year. The day for ‘free shopping’ will be October 6. Mark your calendars! This event will require volunteers, too.
Please email Fiona if you can volunteer or Ms. Bonham tnbonham@cbe.ab.ca . Some of the jobs volunteers can sign up for are:
- do multiple 7 AM pick up in West Springs and deliver to Bowcroft
- on-site sorting starting at 7:30 AM
- many volunteers to help kids shop; shifts 9-12 or 12 to 3 pm
- looking for large tarps for clothing (please print name and phone number on tarp)
On October 6:
- students shop first
- students shop with classes
- students bring reusable shopping bags (1 per child)
- parents/guardians/community invited at 12:30 (not before) to pick clothing
- WINS will be picking up at 3 pm
