Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I hope you all had a good summer filled with time spent with family, friends, trips to the beach, playing cribbage etc. My sister has tried to visit me for the past FOUR years. First, COVID happened. A year later, my sister fell ill with COVID. Finally, this year, my sister was finally able to visit. The last time my sister and her hubby visited Calgary was 14 years ago! They were amazed at how much has changed in Calgary! It was such fun to introduce her to pickleball, visit the Royal Tyrell Museum etc.
I am looking forward to seeing you in person soon and to hear all about your summer adventures.
The first day of school is Thursday, August 29. You will receive a Welcome Letter from your classroom teacher the day before. Please arrive at school at 8:45am and look for the chair that has your teacher’s name on it. Please go up and introduce yourself and your child. The teacher will check off your child’s name. Once the bell rings to go inside, it will be time to wave Good Bye to your child/ren and let them follow the teacher inside independently.
Muffin mixer, organized by your wonderful school council, will be held on Tuesday, September 3, outside in the outside learning area from 8:55 to 9:30 am (approximately). This is your opportunity to meet fellow parents (important if you are new to the school or new to kindergarten). Otherwise, it’s a great opportunity to reconnect with other parents and share your summer experiences.

If your child is starting in kindergarten: Welcome to Bowcroft School. Each Friday, you will receive a Week At A Glance from me, informing you of what is happening at the school. I encourage you to attend our first parent council meeting on Tuesday, September 17, in-person, at school, at 6:30 pm. Typically, they are scheduled for the first Monday of the month with no meetings in December (folks are too busy due to all the winter celebrations happening) and February (short month and Teacher Convention). We may also have online meetings during some of the winter months when faced with a winter storm. This year, we will be meeting on TUESDAYS instead of Mondays.
If you have been at Bowcroft before: Welcome back! The office is open starting next week Monday, August 26, 2024 if you need to register a kindergarten child. Please share with any new neighbors you may have who need to register.
